Rogers Oil Tools Services’ public relations
strategy prepares business for sale

CHALLENGE:
Rogers Oil Tool Services engineered and manufactured superior products for the oil services industry. Having the strongest drill pipe tong in the industry, Rogers knew it was in need of international industry-specific marketing. Perfect for use in the mid-east and north sea and other rough sea conditions, the tong had to be explained in a number of different languages to niche markets on an international platform.

STRATEGY:
Rogers enlisted the services of BBR’s public relations department to create and implement a public relations campaign supported by advertising efforts to market the product to international oil and gas companies. During the span of one year, BBR wrote and distributed stories generating a series of features sharing the benefits of the tong. Positioning the company in a new light and as an innovator in the industry, the international pickups generated the needed awareness of the client.

POSITIVE OUTCOME:
As a result of the coverage, Rogers reported that tong sales greatly increased to international clients. As an added benefit of the campaign, Rogers was noticed by a much larger energy service provider who made an offer and eventually purchased the company. Clients such as Rogers, continue to recognize the importance of public relations efforts that in turn tell the client’s story and increase profits.
