Dupré Logistics hosts energy roundtable, promotes
domestic oil production as part of a strategic PR plan

CHALLENGE:
In 2008, Dupré Logistics enlisted the services of BBR’s public relations department to create more awareness of the Gulf Coast logistics leader. In the summer of 2008, the No. 1 gasoline transporter in the state of Louisiana was facing sky-high gasoline prices. As a result, Dupré Logistics’ bottom line was in jeopardy and the company’s leaders recognized the need to create brand awareness and share its desire to publicly endorse the use of domestic oil production.

STRATEGY:
Through a strategic public relations plan sharing the successes and partnerships of the three service sectors of Dupré’s business, the PR department was able to identify and pursue additional brand awareness opportunities. BBR coordinated media coverage of a round table of transportation professionals in the state of Louisiana supporting the increase of domestic oil production.

POSITIVE OUTCOME:
Following three months of brand awareness public relations implementation, Dupré initiated the roundtable media event and invited Congressman Dr. Charles Boustany Jr. to join the transportation professionals in promoting the production as a way to satisfy energy needs. The roundtable generated local television, newspaper and trade journal coverage of the event. In total, Dupré’s PR efforts have generated more than two years of consistent coverage locally and in trade journals.
