Cathi Pavy Named Silver Medal Award Winner at Acadiana ADDY Awards
Annual Advertising Showcase Includes Winning Work from BBR
The Silver Medal Award represents the highest honor the AAF can bestow upon an advertising industry professional. In a tribute speech and video honoring Pavy, she was lauded for her creative excellence, commitment to social responsibility and achievements garnered working in the advertising industry.
“We owe the credit to Cathi for the award-winning designs for which BBR Creative has become renowned,” said BBR Partner and Account Supervisor Cherie Hebert. “Cathi’s vision and artistic standards ring true in everything we do, no matter the client, the budget or the medium.”
Pavy received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1993. In 1997, she and three other women partnered to open BBR Creative. Cathi is credited with instilling agency ideals that good design, persuasive writing and solid marketing principles are keys to deriving long-term success. These ideals, Pavy’s business partners said, have remained cornerstones for attracting and keeping more than 500 local, regional and national clients since inception.
Well recognized for her creative leadership and talent, Pavy was named Art Director of the Year by the Acadiana Advertising Federation in 1999, 2001 and 2004. Under Pavy’s tutelage, BBR’s creative team has won more than 215 national, regional and local awards, including the AAF’s Best of Show Award (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2008), numerous Special Judges’ Awards and publication in the prestigious PRINT Regional Design Annual (2003). Pavy was awarded Copywriter of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005, as well as Electronic Producer of the Year in 2006.
The former AAF president and current state director for the 7th District of the American Advertising Federation, Pavy devotes much of her time to serving the community. A member of the board of the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Pavy additionally volunteers her time with organizations and causes including The Elemore Morgan Jr. Visual Arts Endowment, Louisiana Folk Roots and Our Lady of Fatima.
Denise Gallagher, the agency’s senior art director, was named Art Director of Year while her illustration, “She Did Not Believe in Impossibilities,” was recognized with a Special Judges’ Award. The second Special Judges’ Award went to BBR for its Susan B. Komen for the Cure T-Shirt design. The third Special Judges Award went to the evening’s most winning campaign, a print ad series developed for KRVS.
The Gold and Silver ADDY Awards were presented for work developed for the following clients and projects: Jessica Tarpy, Cane River Pecan Company, KRVS, Junior League of Lafayette’s Tinsel and Treasures, Festival International, Lafayette Animal Aid’s Bark in the Park, Acadiana Regional Alliance, BELFOR and Grinder Creative Arts Expo. BBR also was recognized for self-promotion work including its Beer Bash invitation, vendor breakfast illustration, BBR Web site and the BBR apron.
